Teen Patti – literally "three cards" in Urdu – is a betting card game that traces its roots back to the Indian subcontinent, closely related to the British game of Three Card Brag. But if you've grown up in Pakistan, you don't need the history lesson. You've probably played it at Eid, at weddings, or at a friend's place with a deck of cards and a bowl of snacks in the middle of the table.
The rules are deceptively simple. Each player receives three cards face-down from a standard 52-card deck. You then bet on whether your hand is stronger than the dealer's or your opponents'. You can choose to play "seen" (look at your cards) or "blind" (bet without looking, with lower required stakes). The round continues until only two players remain, at which point one player can demand a show, and the stronger hand takes the pot.
